Driven by global carbon-neutrality goals, energy storage is shifting from a supporting role to critical power-system infrastructure. Safety, efficiency, and long life are now top requirements — and liquid-cooled ESS has risen quickly. Filling equipment is the practical backbone that makes these projects reliable in production and operation.

ESS market: high growth, higher quality bar

In 2025, newly commissioned global power-storage capacity exceeded 100 GW for the first time, with China contributing 66.4 GW (58.6%). Looking to 2030, China’s cumulative new-type storage could reach roughly 371–451 GW depending on scenario. As stations scale up, uneven cell temperature, thermal-runaway risk, and faster aging expose the limits of air cooling — liquid cooling becomes the breakthrough path.

Liquid cooling: four advantages

  1. Precise thermal control — dedicated dielectric coolant and metal cold plates keep cell-to-cell delta-T far tighter than air cooling, improving cycle life and cutting replacement cost.
  2. Higher safety — cold plates help isolate cells and slow thermal propagation; sealed designs resist dust, humidity, and harsh climates.
  3. Lower OPEX — cooling power can be 30–50% lower than air cooling; lifecycle economics often recover the higher CAPEX within a few years.
  4. Higher energy density — more compact layouts suit land-constrained C&I and distributed storage.

Filling machines: the “precision fluid delivery” layer

  • Cell manufacturing — accurate electrolyte filling under vacuum improves consistency and safety.
  • System O&M — coolant fill/top-up/changeover without trapped air keeps thermal loops effective.
